Sometimes the interviewer doesn’t have the necessary skills to judge the candidates in that case they add a case study round which focuses to solve a real problem that the organisation is facing and how you will solve and present it.
Here are some steps to start the Case Study
Understand the Problem
Begin by comprehensively understanding the background and context of the problem. A case study can have multiple sections or multiple problems.
Identify these problems and understand them, the best way is to read multiple times can ring a bell.
Find out the problems
Segmentation of Issues: Break down the main problem into smaller, manageable components. This could involve dividing the problem into technical, operational, financial, and human resource-related issues.
Stakeholder Analysis: Identify and understand the perspectives of different stakeholders involved. This helps in recognizing conflicting interests and priorities.
Prioritization: Use tools like the Pareto Principle (80/20 rule) to prioritize problems based on their impact on the overall project. Focus on high-impact problems that, when solved, will significantly improve the situation.
3. Solve Each Problem Separately
Problem-Specific Strategies: Develop targeted strategies to address each identified problem. Each solution should be tailored to the specific nature of the problem.
Solution Design: For each problem, design a solution that includes actionable steps, required resources, and a timeline.
Implementation Plan: Create detailed implementation plans for each solution. This should include assigning responsibilities, setting deadlines, and establishing metrics for success.
Now Connect All Solutions
Integrate individual solutions into a cohesive plan and adjust plans if they contradict each other, this will require little adjustment as all problems are dependent than solutions will also overlap.
Identify and manage dependencies between solutions to ensure they complement rather than conflict with each other.
Present the Solution
Executive Summary: Prepare a concise summary of the problem, identified issues, individual solutions, and the integrated strategy.
Detailed Report: Create a detailed report that includes the analysis, data, solution designs, implementation plans, and expected outcomes.
Visual Aids: Use charts, graphs, and diagrams to visually represent the problem and solutions. Tools like Gantt charts for timelines, flowcharts for processes, and pie charts for resource allocation can be effective.
